CIC or Common Interest Community is a type of planned community that clusters the individually owned parcels (called units) into densities that would not usually be allowed by county zoning ordinance. This clustering is usually done to take advantage of some feature such as a lake, golf course or park. Often times these parcels, called units, share resources such as wells and septic systems. Common Interest Communities are regulated by county ordinances and state statutes.
