Plats

Larger parcels of land are often platted, which means they are subdivided in lots and blocks. Platting allows for maximizing the number of subdivisions within the larger parcel and also allows any number of lots sold within a year. Platting can be expensive so it requires some financial planning. Also, it can be a lengthy process of a year or more. This method of subdividing land into lots involves a large amount of oversight by the county, but platting is frequently the only method of getting the maximum number of lots allowed by county zoning ordinance.
